Over the weekend, the Robert Morris men’s ice hockey squad earned a crucial sweep against Canisius, winning 4-2 on Friday night, and 6-3 the following evening. The Colonials were led by sophomore forward Cody Wydo.
“It was a big two games for us. We needed those four points to get a first-round bye. If we do have playoffs first-round, we have home ice now,” said Wydo.
Wydo had three goals and one assist to pace the Colonial offense. He credits his line-mates for his success.
“Well, I have to give credit to my line-mates, Adam Brace and Scott Jacklin,” he said. “They’ve been a part of helping me just get in easy goals, get in the rebounds and stuff like that.”
Coming up this weekend, the Colonials will battle Mercyhurst in the final weekend of regular season action.
“The last game we played against them wasn’t too good, so we expect them to come out hard just like they did, that game. I’m pretty sure they’re 0-5-1 in their last six, so they’re going to be wanting to win,” said Wydo. “If they can beat us both games they’ll be ahead of us in the standings. If we beat them, we’ll be ahead of them, so it’s going to be a crucial series.”
