TOWSON, Md.– At the Towson Spring Invitational, the Robert Morris golf team (+276) swung their way to a +22 score for the tournament, which placed them in sixth out of all teams. On the second day of the tournament, the Colonials climbed three spots on the leaderboard.

Winning the tournament was the Youngstown State Penguins, who shot a +12 tournament, including a first day where they were one-under par. The lowest score for the tournament was a five-under 139, shot by Saptak Talwar of Sacred Heart.

For Robert Morris, Max Palmer continued his strong season, finishing second overall, at -4. Over the course of his two rounds, Palmer shot a combined -4 on the front nine at Prospect Bay C.C.

Bryce Gorrell, David Szymanski, and Chase Miller were part of a seven-way tie for 32nd place at +8. On day two, both Miller and Szymanski rocketed up the leaderboard. Miller moved 37 spots up the board thanks to an even-par 72; while Szymanski moved up 22 spots after a +1 second day. In his front nine on the first day, Gorrell made three birdies.

Four shots behind the threesome of Gorrell, Szymanski, and Miller was Colombia native Daniel Franco Saad. Franco Saad tied for 56th and made two birdies at Towson, both on the first day.

Finishing up the tournament for the Colonials, Kyle Grube finished with a +13 157, good enough for a tie for 63rd. On both days, Grube birdied the 604-yard par five 18th.

Up next for the Colonials is a trip to Heatherwoode, Ohio for the Wright State Invitational. Last year’s Wright State Invitational was canceled due to weather concerns. After Wright State, the Colonials will play in the Northeast Conference Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida.
