March 11, 2021
After Trinity Papamandjaris entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, Robert Morris women’s basketball is suffering an additional departure only 15 days after losing in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament to Northern Kentucky.
Redshirt-junior guard Megan Callahan announced on Instagram that she is moving on from the program and ready to begin the next chapter of her basketball journey, intending to transfer for graduate school.
Callahan becomes the four Colonial to transfer from head coach Charlie Buscaglia’s program this season, joining Isabella Posset (St. Francis Brooklyn), Riley Arrigo (California University of Pennsylvania), and Papamandjaris, also the sixth former RMU basketball player since last season, with Irekpitan Ozzy-Momodu heading to Eastern Michigan and Ramatoulaye Keïta to Buffalo.
In 88 total games, including 52 starts, Callahan averaged 5.9 points and 1.7 rebounds-per-game in four seasons for the Colonials. She shot 36.7-percent from three-point land and totaled 100 career assists.
Callahan started 12 of 16 games she appeared in for Robert Morris in 2020-21, guiding RMU into their first season of Horizon League action.
Her first season was her best season with the Colonials, starting all but one of her 33 games played and averaging career-highs in points (9.0), rebounds (2.2), and assists (1.2) in over 30 minutes of action during the 2017-18 campaign and.
Callahan will have two years of additional eligibility for her new team after the NCAA granted athletes an extra year if they choose to take advantage of it on October 15. The NCAA is also voting on granting transferring athletes immediate eligibility at their new destination, thus making Callahan a viable asset for potential suitors for the 2021-22 season.
