Men’s Hockey Bolsters Defensive Depth with Boston College’s Mitch Andres
March 31, 2023
After spending four seasons with the Boston College Eagles, defenseman Mitch Andres is electing for a change of scenery as he announced his commitment to the Robert Morris men’s hockey program Thursday evening.
The left shot blue liner completed his senior season at Boston College, appearing in 21 games while registering one goal and three points.
Andres spent a majority of his career for the Eagles as a seventh defensive option or skating with the third pairing. The 6-foot-1 defenseman played a career-high 30 games in his junior season as he totaled two points and 11 blocks.
During his sophomore season, Andres skated in 24 games while posting one point and blocking 16 shots to help provide depth minutes for the Eagles as they made their most recent run in the NCAA Tournament.
While Andres was a serviceable defenseman for Boston College, he will provide some veteran experience to the Colonials’ blue line as he enters his fifth season of college hockey. With Robert Morris adding five defenseman from the junior ranks, the Colonials were in need of defensive experience and they add that with Andres and Mercyhurst transfer Rylee St. Onge.
