The Robert Morris men’s hockey team returns to Clearview Arena to begin a five-game homestand. Robert Morris welcomes Holy Cross for two games on Friday and Saturday.
Robert Morris has one of every outcome through their first three games, with a 1-1-1 record.
In their last matchup at Mercyhurst, the Colonials led by two goals in the third period. However, they could not hold the lead and finished with a tie, 3-3.
After being shut out in the season’s first game, the Colonials have scored six goals in two games. Logan Ganie and McKay Hayes have two goals a piece, leading the team in goals. Cade Townend and Dominic Schimizzi have also got in on the scoring with a goal each.
The goaltending has been vital to begin the season as Chad Veltri, the starting goaltender, has a .950 save percentage. The graduate senior has 96 saves and allowed just five goals through three games.
Holy Cross has started the season strong, as they remain unbeaten through their first three games. The Crusaders defeated Long Island, 5-2, to begin their season, followed up with two victories over Connecticut, 2-0 and 2-1.
So far this season, Holy Cross has had seven players get on the score sheet. Jack Ricketts and Tyler Ghirardosi lead the team in goals with two each.
The Colonials are 20-9-2 all-time against the Crusaders and were victorious, 5-1, the last time the two teams faced off over three years ago.
Robert Morris faces Holy Cross on Friday at 7 p.m., then again on Saturday at 5 p.m. to begin their homestand.
