On Saturday, the National Lacrosse League hosted its entry draft at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. In recent years, the Robert Morris Colonials have begun to stake their claim in the NLL, and in this most recent entry draft Robert Morris added three more players to the makeup of the league’s roster.
First off the board was Riley Delill, who went in the second round, 26th overall to the newest NLL team, the Ottawa Black Bears. The defenseman has only appeared in 18 games for the Colonials, where he registered 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Delill also played 20 games in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League last season where he put up a goal and an assist.
The final two Colonials went in the sixth round. Steve DelleMonache went 75th overall to the Philadelphia Wings. DelleMonache is a faceoff specialist for the Colonials, who put up an average 50% faceoff percentage in his four years with the Colonials. He also scored one goal and five assists, along with 185 ground balls.
The last Colonial off the board was midfielder Connor Boss. Boss has appeared in 27 games with the Colonials scoring two goals and three assists. Boss went 83rd overall to the Georgia Swarm.
The NLL will begin play for the 2024-2025 season on Nov. 29, while the Colonials begin play in the Spring.
