Penn State 20 (1-0), RMU 7 (0-1): The Colonials played their season opener Saturday in University Park, Pennsylvania against host team Penn State. However, it was not the start to the season RMU was looking for losing by 13 goals. The Nittany Lions opened the game on a 5-0 run before RMU’s Eric Rankel put the Colonials on the scoreboard. JonPatrik Kealey made it a 6-2 game early in the second quarter with a goal but Penn State then went on a 11-0 run between the remainder of the second quarter and early parts of the third quarter to open the contest wide up. The Colonials ended the game on a 3-0 goal scoring run as Connor Yespen, Shane Majewski, and Stephen Cyron foun the back of the net but the damage was already done by the Nittany Lions. PSU out shot RMU 46-31 and put more shots on goal than the Colonials, 33-19. Goalie Matt Bukovac received the loss for Robert Morris but goalie’s Alex Heger and Brett Cass saw time in net throughout the game.
