As the season starts to wind down for the men’s soccer program at Robert Morris, a series of difficult opponents await the Colonials as they try to qualify for the in-conference tournament in November.

To conclude their three-game road trip, the Colonials must take on #4 Wake Forest in their final non-conference matchup. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Colonials to take on an excellent team ranked fourth in the United Soccer Coaches rankings.

Robert Morris is coming off a 1-1 draw to Green Bay, a relatively even game, where the Colonials scored in the first minute thanks to a finish from forward John Paul Mbuthia off a messy free kick that fell to the junior.

On the other hand, Wake Forest is currently on a nine-game unbeaten run, eight of which are wins. Their most recent match was against #14 North Carolina when the Demon Deacons bested the Tar Heels 1-0.

The scorer in that game was junior forward Ronald Mitchell. He will be the man the Colonials look to contain, as the #9 has eight goals and two assists in the 14 games played by Wake Forest. With his goal against North Carolina, he is tied for 19th-most purposes in program history with 20.

On the other side, the Colonials have to get the goals flowing. Forwards John Paul Mbuthia, Kai McLoughlin, Anass Hadran, and Chase Gilley have been the main components of Coach John Potter’s front four, with Kosi Udeh and captain midfielder Gabe Norris getting in the mix.

While Robert Morris has scored in each of their last five games, they will have to capitalize on their chances up front to beat a Wake Forest side who hasn’t conceded in their previous four games.

With this being the first time the Colonials face Wake Forrest in program history, it comes with the chance to take a lead over the NCAA powerhouse.
