Since the last update, the RMU men’s hockey team has more than doubled the amount of money that they’ve raised on their Movember.com page, Bobby Mo Bros. The team has now raised $2,645 in just 19 days. That’s a $1,450 increase from just five days ago.
“It’s a great feeling to raise money towards such a great cause,” explained sophomore goalie and Bobby Mo Bro, Eric Ferber. “As a team I think we’re always looking for ways to help out other people whether it’s through volunteer work or raising money with things like Movember.”
Also, according to “Bobby Mo Bros” team captain, Zach Hervato, the Colonials are “now 563rd in the nation out of close to 8,000,000 registers.”
Hervato cannot believe that the team has already raised more than two times as much as they expected to. “I can’t even really describe it. We just keep raising more and more, and we keep raising awareness through all this effort and work. We just have to keep doing what we’re doing and keep wearing those great Mo’s.”
While the Colonials are proud to have raised so much money in a short amount of time, they do not want people to forget about the cause itself—research for a cure for prostate cancer.
“It helps promote and fight prostate cancer which kills a lot of men every year,” said junior forward, Adam Brace. “Many people do not think of prostate cancer as a serious form of cancer but it is. Movember helps to fight that.”
Although they’ve more than doubled their original goal of raising $1,000 the Colonials are far from done raising money and awareness. “We already reached our goal of 1,000 dollars so now everything else is just bonus and adds to the great cause,” said Brace.
