MOON TOWNSHIP– Last week, it was announced that the NEC Volleyball Championship was going to take place at the North Athletic Complex due to a scheduling conflict at the UPMC Events Center.

Earlier today, however, it was announced that the tournament would be moved to the UPMC Events Center. This announcement comes on the same day that AJR, who was supposed to have a concert at the arena on Friday, sent out a tweet that stated their show would be rescheduled. This is huge for the women’s volleyball team (25-4, 15-1 NEC), who currently boasts a 12-0 record at their new home.

The top-seeded Colonials will take on Central Connecticut State (14-14, 10-6 NEC) in the first round of the tournament at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Friday’s second match pits Sacred Heart (18-11, 13-3 NEC) against LIU (12-16, 11-5) at 6 p.m. Saturday’s match at 4 p.m. will decide who gets the NEC crown and a bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Robert Morris, who dominated NEC play this season, looks to cap off their amazing season with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Their only conference loss came at the fins of the LIU Sharks, who the Colonials could potentially meet in the championship of this tournament.

For ticket information, the official press release from RMU Athletics states that “Tickets for the tournament will be $6 for adults and $3 for children under 18 and senior citizens. All NEC students with an institutional ID will be admitted for free.”
