ANN ARBOR, Mich.– With the recent announcement regarding the Robert Morris men’s and women’s hockey teams’ inability to raise funding for this coming college hockey season, players continue to transfer from the programs.

On Thursday, it was announced that men’s hockey goaltender Noah West transferred to the University of Michigan.

West will be a strong addition to the goaltending unit for the Wolverines after posting a 9-7 record along with a 2.66 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in 19 games during his freshman campaign.

The Pittsboro, Indiana native also added his first collegiate shutout against LIU in February on his way to being named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team and Second Team All-Conference.

While West was an integral part in helping the Colonials clinch the AHA Western Division during the regular season, he will join an impressive Michigan roster that boasts several 2021 top-10 NHL draft picks. These include Owen Power (No. 1), Matty Beniers (No. 2), Luke Hughes (No.4) and Kent Johnson (No. 5).

When it comes down to the goaltender situation, West will have the opportunity to compete for the starting position. Sophomore Erik Portillo will provide as his other competition. Portillo will be primed to take over as the starter after notching a 4-1 record in seven games during his freshman season as the backup.

As West lands in Ann Arbor, he becomes one of the most notable transfers out of the RMU program as he looks to help the Wolverines reach their second consecutive NCAA Tournament. For an updated list of all Robert Morris transfers, click here.
