If you are not a hockey fan or have no idea who these people are, Steven Campbell (Olly Postanin) and Ryan Russell (Jacob Ardown) are two Canadian hockey coaches that decided to have some fun with their players and started to put on a persona of being a typical hockey “benders”.
The two put on this bender persona as a joke but quickly became an overnight sensation with over half a million views on a video of the two skating on concrete in 2017. Since then, the duo has gone on to become social media stars in the hockey world and have done “eppies” with NHL players such as Marc-Andre Fleury and Connor McDavid.
Olly and Jacob of On the Bench join an already star-studded cast of celebrities that will be at the game in November. They join former NHL’ers in Tyler Kennedy, Colby Armstrong, Eric Tangradi, Ryan Malone, Phil Bourque, and former Steelers Brett Keisel and Shaun Suisham as well as many more faces.
The RMU celebrity hockey game is being held in an effort to restore both men’s and women’s hockey to Robert Morris after the programs were cut in May of 2021. A donation link to the fundraiser can be found here.
Tickets are now available for the Celebrity Hockey Faceoff and start at $20 per person. For more information, check out the Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation’s website.
