MOON TOWNSHIP– Robert Morris (4-12, 1-4 Horizon League) welcomed tough matchup Milwaukee (11-6, 3-0 Horizon) to a Horizon League bout that ultimately went in the direction of the Panthers, as they would come out on top by a score of three sets to one.

The Colonials for the second time in the season were able to land a set from one of the preseason top teams in the Horizon League standings. However, the lack of experience on the squad allowed for the talented Panthers to claw their way through sets three and four.

“The match was dictated on runs,” Head Coach Danny Doherty said following the game. “They had runs, we had runs, unfortunately, their runs were more plentiful.”

For the Panthers, usually you would see a great game from star player Ari Miller, but teammate Madi Malone stole the show as she nearly had a double-double with nineteen kills and eight blocks.

“She has an aggressive swing, she hits it on her way down, and she fools the block that way, and I think she fooled our block quite a bit,” said Coach Doherty.

However, Robert Morris was able to again take a set from Milwaukee. Coach Doherty touched on how the team felt after that set.

“The team felt great, I think it is just a mindset thing, they were confident and liked what was happening,” Coach Doherty said. “We had good matchups, we had good finishes from attacking and form serving. I felt that the mojo was good, but we came out flat after a couple of plays and dictated what we were going to do for the rest of the set.”

Robert Morris was led by Natalie Stepanovich with twelve kills and Ashleigh Wallin with seventeen assists. Also for the Colonials, Hillarie Adams led the team with forty-one attacks and had nine kills to her name.

It was a tough day all around for the Colonials as they had “some good moments and bad moments,” said Doherty. The Colonials had a season-high nine service errors but on the other hand, had eight blocks. This is still a young team with a ton of potential, and if they fix the mistakes, could make a push later in the season.

Robert Morris will have a quick turnaround as they play Green Bay tomorrow in what will be their sixth match in twelve days. The schedule has not been friendly so far for Robert Morris. That game will be tomorrow on Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
