MOON TOWNSHIP — After an impressive first outing at the Head of the Ohio regatta, they look to continue their good start to the season as they get ready to compete in their own backyard at the Yinzer Cup on Saturday. This will be the first home regatta for the RMU Rowing team since 2009.

RMU opened their season at the Head of the Ohio back on October 5. It was an impressive first outing to say the least. The highlight for the Colonials was the Lightweight 4+. The boat came in first place with a time of 15:52.2, then Western Reserve came in second with a time of 16:46.6. High Point finished third with a time of 17:00.6, High Point “B” finished with a time of 18:53.6, and Miami came in last with a time of 19:32.3. Riding the Lightweight 4+ was sophomore Molly Rosado as coxswain, freshmen Kathryn Gronek, Hannah Wandoff and Maria Ringo and sophomore Mary Woods.

Also coming in strong for the colonials was the Lightweight 2+. The boat claimed first and second place. Sophomore Kaitlyn Grubbs and senior Kalyssa Pottgeiser finished first with a time of 18:11.9, and junior Francesca Barchetti and senjor Sophie Carroll earned the bronze medal with a time of 19:04.8. Robert Morris also won the bronze and silver in the Open 4+. The team earned the bronze with a time of 15:51.0, with senior Kestra Harris as coxswain, along with juniors Madelyn Green and Nicole Kristof and sophomores Marissa Beck and Madyson Orlando. Earning the silver medal for RMU were freshmen Maria Ringo, Emily Kerry, Sydney Eaton and Hannah Wandoff with a time of 17:39.2.

Competing in a home regatta for the first time since 2009, RMU Rowing will look to continue their early season success in the Yinzer Cup. Let’s see if everybody can continue to contribute to this success, and if they can keep up their winning ways.
