YOUNGSTOWN, Oh.– Once again, the Robert Morris track and field team heads back to the Watson and Tressel Training Site on the campus of Youngstown State University. This weekend, the Colonials are competing in the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational, which will take place all day Saturday and Sunday.
At last week’s VMI Keydet Invitational, the Colonials placed fifth overall and were led by the French sophomore Estelle Katende, who won the shot put with a toss of 14.34 meters (47′ 0.75″). Her toss is her best of the season and is the third-best in program history.
Robert Morris had 14 other top ten finishers as well, eight on the track, and six in the field events. In the 4×400 meter relay, the Colonials had both their relays finish in the top 10. In seventh place, with a time of 4:08.78, was the relay of Nina Radisavljevic, Brooke Oldfin, Madison Mueseler and Anna Chasovakia. Crossing the line 11 seconds later, in eighth place, was the combination of Samantha Felton, Tara Richardson, Laura Lintelman and Jordan Redinger.
In the 800 meter run, both Samantha Fenton and Tara Richardson finished with a time under 2:30.00. Fenton placed fourth with a 2:20.38, and Richardson finished eighth with a time of 2:26.46. Nina Radisavljevic finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.44 seconds.
In the mile, Robert Morris had two top ten finishers, Martha Gardner in sixth with a 5:30.68 and Kendall Noel in ninth with a time of 5:54.41. To round out the on-track events, Madison Mueseler finished tenth in the 400 meter, with a sub-1-minute time of 59.03.
Former NEC rookie of the week Zoe Roush continued her strong first season in a Colonials uniform, finishing top 10 in both the long jump and the triple jump. In the long jump, Roush placed fourth, with a leap of 5.40 meters (17′ 8.75″); and in the triple jump, she placed tenth, with a jump of 10.51 meters (34′ 5.75″), a personal best for her.
Robert Morris was also well represented in the high jump, with Lilly Harnish finishing third with a 1.60 meters (5′ 3″) jump and Nicole Florio finishing ninth with a vault of 1.50 meters (4′ 11″).
To finish out the top-ten finishers for the Colonials, Nina Radisavljevic lept 11.26 meters (36′ 11.5″) in the triple jump to finish fifth and Kaitlyn Hawkins went an astonishing 3.35 meters (10′ 11.75″) high in the pole vault to also place fifth in the event.
