The Robert Morris women’s volleyball team (7-13) dropped Tuesday night’s match against the Duquesne University Dukes 3-0, with the Dukes winning the sets 27-25, 32-30 and 25-17 respectively.
The first set started with a 7-2 run by the Colonials, but that quickly changed as Duquesne started riding a 6-point streak. The Colonials had led 11-4 before the Dukes made it a one-point set, with the score being 11-10. After that, the first set was a very close affair until the Dukes won the set 27-25 on RMU player Emily Devlin’s attack error.
The second set happened in a similar fashion after the Colonials started the set off 7-3. This set became another tight race and the set ended when Duquesne’s Summer Slade won it for Duquesne on a kill. The Dukes won the set 32-30.
The final set was a different story as the Dukes took over that set from the very beginning, riding a 4-1 start that continued climbing in their favor until the match ended entirely at 25-17. Duquesne won with a kill from Maria Mosbacher.
The Robert Morris Colonials hit the road on Friday, Oct. 12 when they face the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights (2-17) at 5:00 p.m.
