After obtaining just one of a possible four points against Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) opponent, Bentley last weekend, the Robert Morris men’s hockey team will look to take down the Holy Cross Crusaders this weekend at the RMU Island Sports Center.
The Colonials know that they need to play better against AHA opponents and that starts this weekend against the Crusaders.
“The biggest challenge for us will be to bounce back after last weekend,” said junior defenseman, Brendan Jamison. “We didn’t play our best hockey and are looking forward to getting back on track”
With their remaining games coming against AHA opponents, the Colonials realize that it is extremely important for them to get points against every team.
“We put ourselves in a good position with our play in the first half but now is where teams start to distance themselves,” explained senior captain, Trevor Lewis. “Coming off of a weekend where we only got one point means getting points at home is crucial.”
The Crusaders are currently 7-4-1 against AHA opponents, and 9-9-1 overall, and the Colonials know that getting points against them will not be an easy task.
“Holy Cross is a very good team so making sure we play a complete and solid 60 minute game is the only way we will be successful,” said Lewis. “Anytime we can score first is a positive but most games don’t end 1-0 so we need to keep producing no matter what.”
“These games are must wins. Last weekend’s games were must wins, and we let a few points slip away,” added Jamison. “We need to make sure we get all the points this weekend to start a strong push towards the playoffs.”
Both games against Holy Cross will start at 7:05 this Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14.
