The event will be held on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
“Last year’s game was an outstanding event that helped the “Hockey is the Goal” campaign reach the ultimate goal of reinstating the hockey programs,” RMU men’s hockey head coach Derek Schooley said. “This year, we are looking forward to celebrating the teams returning by continuing this fun and exciting game. We are back and looking forward to many exciting games in the future. This is just the start.”
Last year’s event raised over $65,000 for the Hockey is the Goal Foundation. This fundraiser was started after the men’s and women’s Division I programs.
Last year, celebrities, including former RMU alums Zac Lynch and Brianne McLaughlin, played in the game.
It also included former NHL players Ryan Malone, and Colby Armstrong, former Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto, former Pittsburgh Steeler Brett Keisel, and Pittsburgh mascots Iceberg and the Pirate Parrot
Last year the RMU hockey alum team won the contest by a score of 12-11 against Team Celebrity All-Stars.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday, Oct. 24.
