Rob Carter Jr. has recently been everywhere on the field the last couple of weeks, having some snaps on his normal defensive position, but also on offense and special teams.
Carter was named as the NEC’s Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, after scoring a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown on Saturday against Central Connecticut State.
Carter finished the game with 131 return yards. Additionally, he ran a pick-6 back 50 yards.
Head coach Bernard Clark has harped on the special teams performances the past couple weeks, despite the two straight losses.
In the 31-6 loss to Duquesne two weeks ago, Clark said the special teams was the only thing the team did well in, returning 154 yards.
Carter has already made a name for himself this season on the national stage. In Week 1 against Utah State, he made a one-handed spinning interception late in the first half with national media calling it the Interception of the Year.
The Colonials will play in their season finale on Saturday against Stonehill at home. Kickoff will be at noon.
