Robert Morris Announces 2023 Softball Schedule

The Robert Morris University softball team announced its full 2023 schedule Wednesday afternoon.

The Colonials will participate in four early-season tournaments. They will start their season on Feb. 10 in the Runnin’ Bulldog Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C., with matchups including hosts Gardner-Webb, Austin Peay and will George Mason twice that weekend.
The team will return south and will travel to Charleston, S.C to participate in the Low Country Classic from Feb. 24-26. College of Charleston, Rutgers and Syracuse are the opponents RMU will face that weekend.
RMU will continue its non-conference schedule and will participate in the Crimson Classic on the first weekend of March. The Colonials will face hosts Alabama, Longwood and the Mercer Bears twice in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Finally, the Colonials will travel to Tennessee Tech in Cookesville, Tenn., for their final early-conference tournament on March 10-12. Along with facing the host Golden Eagles, the Colonials will also face both Merrimack and the Ohio Bobcats twice in the tournament.
RMU will take to the road for three non-conference opportunities, including a doubleheader at Akron on March 21, a three-game series at Kent State Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2, and a doubleheader against in-state rival Saint Francis in Loretto, Pa., on April 18.
The Colonials will start conference play with three games in two days against Detroit Mercy at home, a single game on Friday, March 17 and a doubleheader on the 18th.
The Colonials will play host to Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne and Oakland at the North Athletic Complex during conference play. The Colonials will only have 13 games played at the North Athletic Complex.
The Colonials will have a home-and-home series against cross-town rival Pitt. The first game will take place in Moon Township on April 4 and the return game will be at Vartabadian Field in Pittsburgh on May 2.
The Colonials aim to return to their winning ways and aim to win the Horizon League Championship after making the championship game in 2022 and make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.
