Davis’ milestone night spells doom for Robert Morris
February 9, 2022
MOON TOWNSHIP– Coming off a win against IUPUI, and three of the last four, Robert Morris fell flat against Detroit Mercy 79-62.
Antoine Davis was the story going into this game and he certainly delivered. The nation’s leading scorer lived to his title. Davis scored 26 points in the Titans’ win.
With that three-pointer against Robert Morris, Antoine Davis now has 2,500 career points, all with Detroit Mercy, becoming the 76th player in NCAA history to do so.

Coach Toole had high praise for the senior who broke the 2,500 point mark Wednesday night.
“He’s the all-time leading scorer in the league. He’s the all-time scorer for Detroit, and god forbid if he comes back another year, he might become the all-time leading scorer in college basketball,” he said. “I love watching him warm-up because the dude does not miss a shot. He is meticulous about his craft.”
Michael Green III and Jaron Williams shot the first two three-pointers and Kahliel Spear’s easy dunk put RMU up four early.
Midway through the half, after a Spear steal, he turned the ball over, leading to a loose ball and a two-on-one where birthday boy Kam Farris came out of nowhere and blocked a Kevin McAdoo layup. McAdoo, after the play, was upset and received a flagrant two technical fouls, resulting in an ejection.
The Titans went on an 18-2 run to take the lead with four minutes left in the first half. They held the Colonials scoreless for almost four minutes.
The Colonials went ice cold in the latter part of the first half, ending with a 39% clip as the buzzer sounded and shot 3-for-11 in the last 11 minutes trailing by ten at the break.
The start of the second half wasn’t any better for RMU. The Colonials were torched on the offensive glass. The Titans had three offensive rebounds three and a half minutes into the second half.
“We had to guard the three-point line, so we had to run 22-and-a-half feet to get the rebound and it didn’t work for us tonight,” Toole said. “It must have been too far of a run. It must have been uphill to get from the three-point line to the basket. We just weren’t able to get there, which is frustrating.”
The Colonials tried to get the crowd buzzing with two consecutive threes by Farris and Cheeks, but Davis scored a three of his own to silence the UPMC Events Center crowd quickly.
The Titans hit 13 shots from behind the arc; Davis made six of his own.
The Colonials had no points in a seven-minute timeframe, leading the Titans to a 13-0 run, making it their largest lead of the game at 21.
It was all set in stone at the point. The Colonials kept the deficit within 20, eventually ending in a 79-62 loss.
Davis was the x-factor tonight, no question, but there were other key contributors like D.J. Harvey with 14 points and nine rebounds and Noah Waterman with 11 points.
Michael Green III led the Colonials with 15 points and Kahliel Spear recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.
RMU will be back at the UPMC Events Center on Friday at 7 p.m. to face the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
