On Wednesday, during Robert Morris University’s annual Day of Giving, the university announced that Russ Olsen has made a six-figure multi-year pledge to fund a multi-team event hosted by the men’s basketball program for three seasons.

The tournament has been established to honor two of Olsen’s childhood friends Richard Bennett and Phillip Urban.

Robert Morris is no stranger to MTE’s over the past several years as they participated in these tournaments in the past several years including this year’s Hostilo Hoops Community Classic in Savannah, Georgia in November.

The UPMC Events Center will be on full display during the MTE as the new $50-million dollar facility is still fairly new after opening in 2019.

Olsen is a 1982 graduate at Robert Morris. After graduating, he has gained over 35 years of experience in executive management and has held multiple senior-level positions for Fortune 500 Companies. Olsen now is the CEO of Triad Life Services.

Robert Morris will have the chance to play more home games as a result of this announcement and will bring in new teams to the Events Center and to the Pittsburgh area.
