After a strenuous 50 days for RMU hockey fans, they can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as Robert Morris announced on Wednesday that the university would partner with Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation to attempt to raise funds to resurrect the programs.

On Monday, officials from the university and Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation met regarding the future of the programs.

A fundraising goal of $7 million raised over the next five years was set to bring the teams back and keep them financially viable.

This decision comes 16 days after a coalition of RMU hockey players retained noted lawyer Jeffrey Kessler, who sent a letter to the university regarding the hockey programs.

Founded days after the announcement of the cancellation on May 26, Pittsburgh College Hockey Foundation is led by former RMU women’s hockey goaltender and 2010 Winter Olympian Brianne McLaughlin-Bittle.

Colonial Sports Network reached out to RMU Athletics for a comment but received no response.
