Sacadura Earns Horizon League Player of the Week Honors

After helping Robert Morris softball go 3-1 at the Tennessee Tech Tournament over the weekend, Meadow Sacadura was rewarded for her performance with Horizon League Softball Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
The redshirt-sophomore slashed .455/.538/.545 in Cookeville, Tenn. as she also drove in five runs and came across to score on three occasions.
She was also an instrumental factor behind the plate for the Colonials, starting in three games as she posted a perfect fielding percentage, totaled 17 putouts and an assist.
In the second game of the tournament against Tennessee Tech, the Colonials snapped a five-game losing skid, winning 12-3, as Sacadura went 1-for-3 with a walk, while coming across to score once.
Game three of the weekend was much closer and the Colonials turned to Sacadura as the hero to defeat Ohio 4-3. In the seventh inning with Anna Resnik standing on third, Sacadura singled to right to drive in the go-ahead run. The late RBI was Sacadura’s second of the game.
The Colonials closed out the weekend trip with another 12-3 win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday as the Mechanicsville, Md. product once again played a big role as Sacadura went 2-for-4 while scoring once and driving in three RBI’s.
Coming off of 2022 Horizon League Rookie Team and Second Team honors, Sacadura has led the Colonials through the early goings on the 2023 season. She is batting .250 with four runs, while driving in a team-best 11 RBI’s. Sacadura has also come up clutch for the Colonials this season as she is batting .476 with runners in scoring position, knocking in seven runs in that scenario.
Behind the plate, Sacadura boasts a team-high 1.000 fielding percentage with 66 putouts and eight assists. The catcher has also thrown out five runners attempting to steal
Sacadura and the Colonials return to the North Athletic Complex for the first time this season when they host Detroit Mercy on March 17 and 18.
