With Horizon League action underway, both RMU soccer squads will look to continue great play heading into the weekend. Women’s soccer started with a statement 5-1 victory over Green Bay in which four different Colonials scored with Malia Kearns having two goals.
The women’s team will be in action on Thursday and Sunday. The Colonials will travel to Milwaukee on Thursday to take on the Panthers.
The Colonials will have revenge on their minds as the Panthers beat them by a score of nine to one in their last meeting. All-time, the Colonials have not beaten the Panthers in five matches. The Colonials will look to turn the ship around after their big win against Green Bay.
Then the Colonials will return to the North Athletic Complex to welcome Wright State, who have won once and lost twice in three matches. The last two matches have been close, so the women’s team will look to return even for the all-time matchup against Wright State.
A player to look out for with Robert Morris is Malia Kearns, who scored two goals in the statement game against Green Bay. Lidia Nduka will also look to extend her point lead in the Horizon League, and she is due for a goal.
On the men’s side, they just have one match this week on Saturday, where they will meet Milwaukee on the road. The Colonials made a statement last time out against Milwaukee beating them five to none. Robert Morris will look to do the same after coming off a 1-0 defeat to IUPUI.
Watch out for Chase Gilley to return on the right path, as he hopes to be a goal scorer in this game. Gilley has had his moments and struggles on the season but will look to turn the ship around against Milwaukee.
Both soccer teams have a lot in store coming into this week continuing Horizon League play. The first kickoff is on the women’s side on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Milwaukee with a late start at 8 p.m.
