On February 26 and 27, the team will head to Cary, North Carolina to take on the North Carolina Central Eagles for their first non-conference matchup and first games of the season.
The teams last faced off nearly two years ago at the Wings Etc. Classic in Spartanburg, South Carolina, dropping the game on February 24, 2019 6-5. Natalie Higgins picked up a homer in the loss.
For their next non-conference doubleheader, the team will head to the nation’s capital for another two-doubleheader weekend on March 6 and 7 with Howard. This will be the first time the Colonials and Bison will face off in program history.
The team is led by fifth-year returns Higgins and Madison Riggle as well as their lone true senior Alaina York as they were slated seventh in the Horizon League preseason coaches’ poll.
The Colonials will get into conference play following these two series, heading back home to host the Detroit Mercy Titans for their first Horizon League matchups and clashing with the Titans for the first time since 2015.
