Softball Roundup: DeMarini Desert Classic Day Three

RMU fell to the hands of the Spartans Sunday in their final game of the weekend in the Sunshine State.

Nevada 9 (7-2), RMU 0 (2-7): The Colonials were unable to earn a victory in the DeMarini Desert Classic over the weekend as they lost their last chance to do so against Nevada Sunday afternoon in Henderson, Nevada. Nevada’s offense and pitcher McKenna Isenberg shutout RMU and held them to only two total team hits. Nevada used back-to-back three run first and second innings to get out to an early 6-0 lead. They then scored insurance runs in the third and fifth inning. Robert Morris’s two hits came from senior Kristen Gabelt and sophomore Olivia Lorusso. Freshman pitcher Laura Coulter (0-2) started in the circle for the Colonials. Coulter went 1.2 innings giving up six runs, all of them being earned runs on six hits allowed. Coulter was replaced by Kaitlin Ellzy who finished the game in the circle for RMU, giving up three runs, one earned run on four hits allowed.
