After three years at Robert Morris, former Florida State Seminole Ricardo Watson is transferring for the second time in his collegiate career with two years of eligibility left.

The Colonials are losing yet another key contributor to the transfer portal as Watson was one of the team’s starting defensive linemen and one of the more impactful players on the field this past season, for RMU is looking elsewhere to finish out his collegiate days.

Watson is the fourth player to transfer this offseason, but his absence will be felt the most since he has played every game for the team for the past three seasons.

In his three years as a Colonial, Watson left his mark totaling 84 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks over his three years of rushing the passer and stuffing the run for RMU’s defense.

It will be interesting to see where Rico lands in the transfer portal and RMU will no doubt have a tough time replacing him on the defensive line this spring and next fall.

College football has been shaken to its core by name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals and schools at all levels are feeling the impact, so stay tuned for more updates out of the transfer portal for the Colonials.
