The RMU women’s soccer finished up their regular season Tuesday against Youngstown State winning 2-1. The win saw the Colonials clinch birth into the Horizon League Tournament.
The conclusion of the regular season also means the release of Horizon League All-League rosters, where three Colonials made the honorary lists.
Freshman midfielder Shauna Gamble earned a spot on the All-League Freshmen Team. The Palm Springs native played 17 games, starting four. Gamble had three assists on the year, and she will be one to watch on the Colonials for the foreseeable future. This is the second year in row a Colonial has earned this honor after last year’s now sophomore Malia Kearns made the roster.
Kearns earned back-to-back years of awards as the sophomore midfielder made the All HL-Second team. Kearns, an Offensive Player of the Week winner this year, has had a historical season at Robert Morris, scoring three goals and tallying three assists. She also garnered 17 points in the 18 games she played in, 17 of which were starts. Kearns also broke the record for goals by a single player in a game, scoring four against Sunday’s opponent, Wright State.
Kaoru Hayashi also earned herself a couple of awards. The Graduate midfielder was awarded the sportsmanship award for 2023, as well as a spot on the All HL-First Team. This is the third time Hayashi has earned spots on postseason rosters, having made the all-conference second team in 2021 and 2022. This year, Hayashi tallied three goals and six assists with 12 points in the 18 games she played.
All three ladies look to add to their tallies in the postseason. RMU was named the #4 seed for the post season tournament, and they will face Wright State in the quarterfinals.
Fans can catch the Colonials’ attempt to keep their season rolling against Wright State at 1 P.M. at the AHN Montour Junction Sports Complex or live on ESPN+.
