On Monday, January 21, Robert Morris University NCAA men’s hockey head coach, Derek Schooley, tweeted a much-anticipated update on former captain, Chris Kushneriuk.
“Very excited for @StoneColdKush who received good news today. Hopefully this is the news that starts the healing process. #believe.”
After that tweet, those that know Kushneriuk were left to wonder what that good news was.
Four days later, on January 25, the Bakersfield Condors (Kushneriuk’s ECHL team) tweeted a video message from Kushneriuk.
“Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know I’m doing really well,” said Kushneriuk. “God’s strengthened me through this entire process and taken a huge burden off my shoulders.”

In the video, Kushneriuk thanks everyone for their constant support.
“To all of you that have been out there thinking about me and supporting me, I can’t extend enough gratitude to you guys,” said Kushneriuk. “The love and support coming in has been very humbling, and I’m very grateful for it.”
While the update is very encouraging, help is still needed for Kushneriuk’s medical costs. If you would like to make a donation to him, please visit http://chriskushneriuk.org.
