After returning from a tough road trip in Indiana, the Colonials will welcome the Youngstown State Penguins for a Horizon League clash. The Colonials come into this match on a six-game losing streak and will look to turn the tide against Youngstown State.
The Penguins come into this match also struggling, winning just one game in their last six. Overall, in the history of this matchup, the Colonials have won five of eighteen total matches against the Penguins, with their most recent win coming back on Oct. 8, 2021.
In this matchup, the Colonials have been battling in all of their matches but were surprisingly swept in their weekend series against IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Penguins have a couple of players to watch for in this matchup.
The first player to watch out for is outside hitter Abbie Householder. On the season, she leads the Penguins in 236 points, and she nearly has 200 kills with 198 kills.
The next player to watch for the Penguins has to be outside hitter Jazmin Vergara. Vergara is not too far behind in points, as she has a respectable 227.5 points to her name. She leads the team in kills, with 203 kills to her name.
This lethal combo has been quite deadly for the Youngstown State Penguins. They have wreaked havoc on the court, so the Colonials need an excellent defense to stop this dynamic duo.
For Robert Morris, they will have to turn to arguably their best players this season if they want to take home their second conference win. These players are Natalie Stepanovic and Azra Eric.
These two women have been incredible for Head Coach Danny Doherty. They are slowly getting acquainted with the Horizon League. Stepanovich leads the Colonials with 216 kills.
Eric has had a great season, as she has 79 points. We have seen Eric used more in the matches as the season progressed. Look for Eric to have a big game in this one.
This battle will take place this Friday at the UPMC Events Center as it is the battle of I-76, starting at 6 p.m.
