Vontae Davis, former NFL cornerback star, was found dead in his Florida home on Monday, April 1st. He was 35 years old. Davis played ten seasons in the NFL, retiring in 2018 from the Buffalo Bills.
Davis was a first-round draft pick (25th overall) by the Miami Dolphins where he played three seasons. He later played 6 seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, winning 2 Pro Bowls in 2015 and 2016. Davis played his last NFL season in 2018 for the Buffalo Bills, famously retiring during halftime of their week 1 game.
Davis faced six charges in February 2023, one of which was a DUI, after crashing his Tesla into a truck parked on a Broward County highway. Davis pleaded guilty in October to reckless driving, landing one year of probation.
Vontae Davis was found by one of his home workers, who called 911. The Broward County Police declared Davis dead, noting that they did not think foul play was at hand. At this time, the cause of death is still not known until an autopsy may be completed.
