Weekend Round-up: 9/28/18 – 9/30/18

In case you missed out on the Robert Morris sports that RMU Sentry Media couldn’t cover, here is a quick round-up of this past weekend’s games and tournaments for the Colonials’ teams.
9/28/18:
Volleyball: RMU – 1, Saint Francis – 3
The volleyball team still remains without a Northeast Conference win as they dropped a match against the Red Flash on Friday afternoon. Robert Morris player Whitney Brown had 41 assists against the Red Flash. Robert Morris took set three with the score of 25-20. They did lose sets one, two and four by the scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-18 respectively. RMU returns home for Homecoming weekend when they host the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
9/29/18:
Men’s Soccer: RMU – 0, Bryant – 2
Men’s soccer took another hit when they lost to the Bulldogs in their first Northeast Conference game of the year. The Bulldogs got their two goals at the 10-minute and 17-minute marks from Antonio Terceros and Jared Lee that propelled Robert Morris to their first Northeast Conference loss. RMU posted six saves where Bryant got three saves.
Rowing: Finishes in fourth place in the Mercyhurst Classic
In the Third Annual Findlay Lake Classic, Robert Morris finished the head race in 21:10.59 and the sprint in 1:39.05. Out of the four teams in the race, Robert Morris placed last. They finished behind the host school Mercyhurst (1st), RIT (2nd) and Canisius (3rd). Their next event will be on Oct. 13 when they take Duquesne and West Virginia.
9/30/18
Golf: Tied for fifth place (Rider University) after the first day at Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational
Bryce Cornell totaled 71 yards and is in the third for Robert Morris in the first day of the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational. Day two of the invitational is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 1 all throughout the day.
Men’s Soccer: RMU – 3, Sacred Heart – 1
The men’s soccer team took on the Sacred Heart University Red Flash in a matchup that managed to get Robert Morris there third win this season. Guilherme Fanck scored on a penalty kick for the first goal and the powerhouse of the men’s team, Owen Pearce and Zac Sherman, each contributed a goal with each of them assisting each other in getting their goals. Winter Fondi made five saves for RMU, whereas Bryant contributed four saves. Sacred Heart got their only goal from Thomas Santilli at the 23-minute mark. The Colonials return home during Homecoming weekend on Sunday, Oct. 7 at noon to face the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers for another NEC matchup.
Women’s Soccer: RMU – 1, Fairleigh Dickinson – 3
The women’s soccer team worsened the number of losses they have when they took their 10th loss on Sunday afternoon. Robert Morris got their only goal from Bailey Farabaugh, who made a shot that deflected into the box for their only goal for the afternoon at the 74-minute mark. The Knights got a goal from Andrea Garcia, who scored on a shot from her left foot. A score was made for the Knights by Viktorija Miseljic as well when a free kick made it into the box. The last Knights’ goal came from Noam Kedem, who scored when the ball made it into the top right corner of the net. RMU made nine saves where FDU only had to make one save. RMU goes on the road Friday, Oct. 5 to face Mount St. Mary’s at 4 p.m.
