While the football team managed to get the first win of the Bernard Clark era under their belts, three other Robert Morris teams shined this weekend as well. Catch up on all you may have missed right here:

9/7/18

Volleyball – RMU: 3, UMBC: 2

Match one of the Charm City Challenge was hopefully the beginning of a possible comeback in the win-loss columns for the volleyball team as they took three sets to two in the first match of the tournament. RMU took the first set 25-21 and dropped the next two sets 25-12 and 25-11. They then won the last two sets by scores of 27-25 and 15-8.

Volleyball – RMU: 3, Loyola: 2

Match two of Charm City Challenge was the completion of a weekend doubleheader for the volleyball team through their tour of Baltimore, MD. This time they faired off against Loyola. Loyola took a quick step forward in the match by the taking the first set 25-21. RMU was able to storm back in the second match of the day by taking the next two sets by scores of 31-29 and 25-20. Loyola tied the sets 2-2 by taking the fourth by a score of 25-23. The Colonials’ doubleheader sweep was capped off with a 15-13 set victory, winning the overall match three sets to two.

9/8/18

Men’s Soccer – RMU: 2, Longwood: 3

Longwood put Robert Morris in an early deficit when a rebounder off an Ander Extaniz save was scored less than a minute into the game. RMU responded quickly when Zac Sherman and Owen Pearce both scored for the Colonials to make things 2-1. Longwood came back in the second half to seal the deal when Jeremy Jaquier and Mikel Abando scored the final two goals for Longwood and seal the 3-2 victory. RMU plays at Bucknell on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

Volleyball – RMU: 0, James Madison: 3

The third match of the Charm City Challenge ended up with a Robert Morris loss as they dropped the match three sets to none on Sunday. In what was a disappointing game for RMU, James Madison took the sets 25-15, 25-16 and 25-21 in RMU’s loss. They finished the tournament with a 2-1 record in their three games. The volleyball team’s next match will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. against Youngstown State at the North Athletic Complex.

9/9/18

Women’s Soccer – RMU: 2, Youngstown State: 0

The women’s soccer team posted a shutout thanks to the heroics of forward Jane Schleicher and goalkeeper Julia Schmid as those two were the big powerhouse of the game. Schleicher scored both of the game’s two goals in the first half. The first goal was scored when Schleicher got past Youngstown’s goalie, Katie Hackos, at the 35th minute. The second goal Schleicher got was rebounded into the net at the 41st minute. Robert Morris was only able to get three total shots off in the game, but they made the most of their limited chances by putting two of them in the net. RMU’s next game is at home at 3 p.m. against Akron University on Friday, September 14th.
