*UPDATE SEPTEMBER 17, 2021, 2:30 P.M.: Women’s basketball dropped their full schedule today. They will have games at home versus Akron (Nov. 13), Morehead State (Nov. 24) and Waynesburg (Dec. 20) while having road non-conference games at Canisius (Nov. 27) and Miami (FL) (Dec. 12).

Coming off a 4-13 campaign, the Colonials look to bounce back in their second Horizon League season. The conference announced Thursday the full schedule for each school, including RMU’s. The season will begin on Nov. 18. Each team will play a 22-game double round-robin schedule, meaning each team will play each other twice, home and away.

It was announced earlier in the summer that the Colonials host their inter-city Division-II rival, Pitt-Johnstown on November 23. The Mountain-Cats are a regular opponent on the Colonials schedule as the two faced off just two years ago. Pitt-Johnstown has not hit the hardwood since the pandemic began back in March 2020. This will count as an exhibition as this will be a tune-up before the Colonials’ season will officially begin.

Also, the Colonials and St. Bonaventure agreed to a home-and-home series. The first half of the series will take place at the Reilly Center in St Bonaventure, NY on November 9, as the two will meet again at the UPMC Events Center on December 19. The last and only time the Colonials faced the Bonnies was back in the 2010 WNIT, when the Bonnies came out on top, 76-50.

WHAT DOES THE COLONIALS SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

The first conference game for every member of the Horizon League will start on November 18. The Colonials will start on the road against Detroit Mercy and quickly will travel to Rochester, Michigan to face Oakland two days later.

The UPMC Events Center will open its doors for the first time of the conference season when the Colonials host the Green Bay Phoenix on December 2 and host Milwaukee on December 4.

Their next conference game will not take place until after Christmas, hosting Cleveland State, and kicking 2022 off with a date with the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons.

January 7 will be a travel day to Highland Heights, Kentucky, taking on Northern Kentucky. Their road trip will continue to Wright State as they’ll take on the defending Horizon League champions to conclude the weekend.

The team will come back to the UPMC Events Center the next weekend as both games will be in a battle of abbreviations. IUPUI @ RMU on Friday and UIC @ RMU on Sunday.

Youngstown State plays the Colonials in back-to-back games. The Colonials will play at home on Thursday, January 20, and travel to the Beeghly Center that Saturday.

The Golden Grizzlies will have their rematch with the Colonials, this time in Hoop Township, same with the Titans of Detroit Mercy, the same opponent from the conference opener.

The Colonials kick off February with a road trip to Milwaukee and stay in the state of Wisconsin with a matchup against Green Bay, the first time they will travel there as a conference opponent. The road trip will continue the next weekend as Purdue Fort Wayne hosts the Colonials on Friday the 11th and then travel to Cleveland State on Valentine’s Day eve.

Wright State is welcomed to Hoop Township on February 18, and Northern Kentucky will face the Colonials on the 20th.

The Colonials will conclude their regular season on the road, traveling to UIC on February 26 and will face the Jaguars of IUPUI on the 26th.

It should be an exciting season as this season is longer but still jam-packed with most of the Horizon League games have 2 games in one weekend.
