NEVILLE TOWNSHIP– The women’s hockey team returned home to Clearview Arena as they took on the seventh-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights.

The Colonials fell to Clarkson 5-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights dominated the game in almost every category, including hitting the iron thrice in the first period alone and outshooting RMU with a whopping 105 shot attempts, 54 on goal to the Colonials 14.

However, the Colonials blocked a season-high 25 Golden Knights’ shots.

Graduate goaltender Emma Gorksi had 49 saves and made some spectacular saves despite the loss.

Alaina Giampietro had the lone goal for the Colonials, tucking in a backhander behind Clarkson’s Michelle Pasiechnyk to tie the game for her third goal of the season.

The Colonials did not help themselves on special teams, going 0-for-2 on the power play, including a 5-on-3 in the second period, but committed six penalties. The Golden Knights scored on only one of their power plays.

Anne Cherkowski and Darcie Lappan had two goals for the Golden Knights and Keira Hurry had the power play goal in the third period.

Head coach Logan Bittle did not speak to the media following the game.

The Colonials have the opportunity to split the series tomorrow at Clearview Arena at 1 p.m.
