While the Robert Morris women’s hockey team will look to defeat Maine on November 29, they also plan to achieve something else; putting smiles on the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s patients.

Instead of paying the normal admission fee, fans will contribute a donation.

A Christmas tree will be adorned with individual decorations featuring a gift description and price and RMU supporters will choose a present and pay that gift’s price as his or her admission fee.

Items on the tree will include toys for various ages, arts and crafts, electronics, and sports equipment.

The tags chosen will create a shopping list for the team and the Lady Colonials will go out, shop for the items on the list, and then send them to Children’s Hospital.

“I think it’s very important for our girls to be involved with community service in general, especially with Children’s Hospital, just to be well rounded women that are not just solely focused on themselves and school and hockey,” said assistant coach Jinelle Siergiej on the program’s fundraising campgain. “But instead have a broader perspective on life in general and to help those who are really in need of it.”
