MOON TOWNSHIP– After a solid showing against no. 2 Minnesota (6-0, 2-0 WCHA), the Robert Morris women’s hockey team (2-2-0) finds themselves ranked 10th in the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll.
The Colonials battled hard against the Golden Gophers in their two game series over the weekend, losing in overtime by a score of 4-3 on Friday and falling 6-2 on Saturday. RMU showed that they can compete with the best teams in college hockey through these performances.
Robert Morris tied the game on Friday late in the third period as Michaela Boyle scored with less than a minute to play. In addition to these late heroics, the Colonials also held a lead over the Golden Gophers for a large chunk of the second period.
On Saturday, RMU’s Emily Curlett scored early in the thrid period to tie the game 2-2. Following this goal, Minnesota took over and ended up winning the game 6-2.
Excluding the majority of the final frame on Saturday, Robert Morris played well with one of the top ranked teams in the country. This is why they find themselves ranked for the first time since the 2017-2018 season.
Robert Morris looks to get back in the win column this weekend against no. 4 Clarkson (3-1). This will be another great test for this Colonials team to once again prove that they are one of the better women’s hockey programs in college hockey.
