Women’s Hockey: RMU vs. Mercyhurst

The Colonials and Lakers skated to a 4-4 tie Saturday afternoon.

RMU 4 (9-6-3, CHA 3-3-2), Mercyhurst 4 (97-3, CHA 6-0-2): The Colonials ended their two-game series against Mercyhurst Saturday in Erie, Pennsylvania in a game that saw eight total goals and ended in a tie. The Lakers scored first in the first period but RMU’s Amanda Pantaleo tied the game late in the opening period. Mercygurst went on to score the next two goals to take a 3-1 lead in the second period but freshman Amber Rennie cut the deficit to one at the end of the second period. RMU took the lead in the third period when freshman Kirsten Welsh and Sarah Quaranta scored goals to give RMU a 4-3 lead. However, Mercyhurst found the back of the net to tie the game at 4 later in the final period of regulation. Neither team was able score a goal in the extra period. Goaltender Jessica Dodds for RMU faced 28 shots in the game.
