Robert Morris women’s soccer will start Horizon League play tonight at 7 p.m., opening play against Purdue Fort Wayne. The Colonials are off to their best start in program history by having a record of 6-0-2.
The Colonials will travel to Purdue Fort Wayne to open up conference play. They go into this matchup with revenge, as they dropped the last meeting 2-0.
The Colonials’ all-time record against the Mastodons is 1-4-1, with their only win coming from the COVID season when they beat the Mastodons by a score of 4-2.
Robert Morris is led in goal-scoring by the transfer sensation Lidia Nduka, who leads the Colonials with seven goals. Not too far behind is Renae Mohrbacher with five goals. This duo has been deadly for the Colonials to start this season.
While we cannot forget about the Mastodons, they have an okay start to the season as they are off to a 3-3-2 start in their non-conference play. They had a dominating win against St. Francis Indy by a score of 7-0. They did drop some winnable games as well.
A player to look out for with the Mastodons is Rylee Vruggink, as she is close to leading the team in goals with two, and she leads the team in assists with three. She has seven points and another to watch out for, Morgan Raitano, with three goals and one assist on the season.
Robert Morris went a measly 1-7-2 last season in conference play. Still, with a stronger team and a new formation, the Colonials can make this a stronger conference play for Robert Morris, and they will be a formidable foe in the Horizon League.
The Colonials will start their week against the Mastodons tonight at 7 p.m.
