Women’s Soccer Releases 2023 Fall Schedule

Opening their season in just a few months, Robert Morris women’s soccer is ready to get back on the pitch with the announcement of their fall schedule Thursday afternoon.

The Colonials finished last season with an overall record of 7-7-4 and are ready to kick off a new year. Robert Morris will duke it out with Duquesne to open in an exhibition on Aug. 9 at home.
RMU’s following three games will be on the road, starting in Virginia against VMI on Aug. 17.
Then, they will look to defend their ship against the Pirates versing Hampton the following day on Aug 18. The Colonials will have a few days to recover and then they will zip down to Akron for their matchup on Aug. 24.
Before returning to play in Moon Township, RMU will visit Saint Francis on Aug. 27 to faceoff against the Flashes. The Colonials will then welcome back past players on Alumni Day against Saint Bonaventure on Sept. 3.
After just one home game they are back on the road, facing Mount St. Mary’s on Sept. 6, Le Moyne on Sept. 9, and entering their first Horizon League matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sept. 14.
Getting deeper into Horizon League action, RMU will go back and forth between home and away for their following five games starting on home turf welcoming Green Bay on Sept. 14. They will then look to wrong Wright State on the road on Sept. 24.
The Colonials will take a trip downtown for a riverside matchup against Carlow on Sept. 27 at Highmark Stadium, and will return home to battle Detroit Mercy on Sept. 30. They will then face the Golden Grizzlies in Oakland on Oct. 5 and fight against the Vikings at Cleveland State on Oct. 12.
After two away they will have two at home, welcoming Northern Kentucky on Oct. 15 and IUPUI for their Senior Day on Oct. 21. RMU will waddle down to Youngstown State on Oct. 25 to finish out their season slate.
If the Colonials are within the top six teams of the Horizon League this year, they will compete in the Horizon League Playoff Tournament on Oct. 30 through Nov. 5.
Head coach Chris Shaw is entering his fourth season as head coach of the Colonials. Assistant coach Brianna Murgi returns for her second season in Moon.
“I’m really excited for this upcoming season,” Murgi said. “We have a ton of young talent returning as well as veteran leadership that will help us make this a successful season. We also have eight newcomers whose presence will have an immediate impact.”
The squad will look to qualify for their first Horizon League Tournament in program history.
