Women’s Soccer Set to Commence Their Third Season in Horizon League

It is year three in the Chris Shaw era for the Robert Morris women’s soccer team as they look to make more strides in the Horizon League.
During the 2020-21 season, the Colonials endured a disastrous spring campaign in their first year of Horizon League competition and first year competing with Shaw at the helm. RMU only collected one win that spring.
The Colonials then moved towards the 2021 fall slate, where they showed improvements. Robert Morris finished with an overall record of 6-10-3 as they added two conference wins and forced three draws in Horizon League play.
As the 2022 season nears, the Colonials strive to move from the bottom tier of the Horizon League standings.
Robert Morris returns nearly every player who registered a goal last season. Junior Haleigh Finale scored six goals while collecting six assists and led the Colonials with 18 points.
Redshirt senior Kaoru Hayashi also looks to take on a leadership role with the Colonials as she scored three goals and tallied four assists last season, which earned her a nod to the All-League Second Team.
One player who will continue to carve their name into the women’s soccer program is Emily Rocco. In her freshman season, Rocco recorded two goals while earning All-Freshman Team honors.
Kayla Veloso-Lima, Gabriella Lecuona, Chelsea Kingston, Sheridan Reid, Kassidy Fischer all return to the Colonials after contributing goals last season.
Goalkeeper Isabella Bohlen returns for her redshirt senior season after posting a 5-5-3 overall record. Bohlen will once again look to be the backbone of the Colonials squad.
Robert Morris will also welcome ten freshmen to the mix who hope to make an impact on the program in their first collegiate season.
While the Colonials aim to jump up in the Horizon League standings again, the preseason poll expects Robert Morris University to finish last.
RMU will look to defy the odds as they begin season play against VMI on Aug. 18. After the Colonials conclude their eight non-conference games, they will commence league play on Sept. 15 against Green Bay.
