Banker Dennis Frandsen offered to pay tuition and book costs for a two-year technical school degree to a class of graduating seniors, for the second time.
USA Today has confirmed that Frandsen offered to pay for two years of technical college for all of Luck Public School’s 34 prospective graduates this year in Wisconsin.
Frandsen is a self-made success who now owns 35 branches of Frandsen Bank and Trust in communities across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“He just showed up and set the offer on the table for us,” said Luck High School’s principal Brad Werner according to WCVB. “It’s almost mind-boggling to think that that’s just come through, out of the blue, and is an opportunity for our kids. It’s a little bit hard to wrap your mind around.”
Frandsen also offered the two-year scholarship to last year’s graduating class of Rush City High School in Minnesota.
“I thought it was the right thing to do,” Frandsen told KARE-TV when he made his first scholarship offer to Rush City. “I was able to do it, and why shouldn’t I?”
Frandsen said that he was an average student in high school and that because most scholarships go to the top kids in each graduating class, he wanted to spread the opportunity around. “What about the average students,” said Frandsen.“Are we just going to forget about them?”
Luck Public Schools Superintendent Cory Hinkel said, “This just opens up doors for those whose doors may have been closed a little harder.”
