The NCAA softball season is one week down and two Colonials already have conference weekly awards.
The Horizon League announced Tuesday that infielder Anna Resnik won conference Player of the Week and right-hander Madelyn Coleman won conference Pitcher of the Week.
The Colonials won both of their games in the Red & Black Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C. with a 9-5 win over Iona and a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart.
Resnik started off the season hot, batting 3-for-6 including a double, a walk, and scored two runs. In the win over Iona, she had three hits and tied a career-high with three RBI. She has now hit three RBI in each of her four years at RMU.
In game two against Sacred Heart, Coleman made her Colonial debut after her transfer from Mount St. Mary’s. She struck out a career-high nine Pioneer hitters in 5.1 scoreless innings and earned the win.
After their 2-0 start, the Colonials will travel to Murray, Kentucky for the Murray State Tournament this weekend, starting on Friday Feb. 21.
