After falling to Green Bay earlier this afternoon, the Colonials faced Youngstown State after the Penguins lost to Northern Kentucky 1-0.

Taylor Rhinehart got the start for the Colonials in the circle as Elle Buffenbarger was the starter for YSU.

The game became a pitcher’s duel, with just two hits through the top of the third inning. That changed once Youngstown State got on the board first after a two-run home run by Megan Turner. Those were the only runs the Penguins could stir up as it was all Colonials from that moment on.

Taylor Rhinehart got the Colonials on the board with an RBI single to cut the lead in half scoring Avery Winchell in the top of the fourth inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, Meadow Sacadura flew out to left field, scoring Erika Bell from third, tying things up.

The Colonials were down to their licks at the dish and the only way to stay alive was by scoring two runs.

Anna Resnik led off the seventh inning with a single. Alaina York reached with a fielding error on a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runner. Winchell then singled, scoring a run for the Colonials.

Erika Bell doubled to score another run for the Colonials, doubling their lead.

Madison DeVault replaced Rhinehart in the circle in the sixth. Her only baserunner was the leadoff batter in the seventh as she did not allow a hit during her outing.

This advances Robert Morris in the double-elimination tournament. The Colonials are set to play at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow against an opponent who is TBD.
