My First Night in the City of Brotherly Love

My first Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Conference experience happened on Friday night, my first night in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. It was The Ivy League Club Opening Night Celebration mixer. The theme took us back to the roaring 1920’s with flapper dresses and feather boas galore! The planning for this event was extremely successful, I felt like I was back in an old Philadelphia jazz club with the band playing and people having the time of their lives on the dance floor. It was so cool to be around so many people that have the same interests, academics wise. It was such a diverse group of people, mostly girls, but there were some guys as well, even ones that could Charleston like champions in their top hats and bow ties. There was no shortage of food and beverage including Philadelphia’s famous cheesesteaks and pretzels. Meeting new people was, personally, my favorite part. Being able to network with my peers was awesome, especially in such a fun and carefree atmosphere. I would like to believe that some of the connections I have made would help me somewhere along the line in my future career as a public relations practitioner. All in all I think that the mixer was so much fun and such a great success.
