Robert Morris will host a Multi-Team Event at the UPMC Events Center from Friday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 for men’s basketball.
Robert Morris, Jacksonville and Fairleigh Dickinson will participate in the event, with each team playing once against each other throughout the weekend.
This will be the second consecutive year the Colonials will participate in an MTE, playing in the Hostillo Hoops Classic in Savanah, Ga. last November. However, it is the first time RMU is hosting one.
This comes after the announcement that RMU graduate Russ Olsen pledged to fund an MTE during RMU’s Day of Giving last September.
Fairleigh Dickinson was a former conference rival with RMU in the NEC before the Colonials moved to the Horizon League in 2020. The Knights gained national attention last March as they became the second 16-seed in NCAA history to defeat a 1-seed, beating Purdue.
Unlike FDU, Jacksonville is an unfamiliar opponent to the Colonials as the two schools have never played one another before.
RMU will face Jacksonville on Friday the 24th. The Dolphins will play FDU on Saturday the 25th, and the Knights and Colonials will renew their rivalry on Sunday the 26th.
The name of the MTE and game times are still to be determined.
